Digital Maquettes from the development of Armatures of Animation, a project for a combined house, studio and private screening theatre for a pair of twin animators.
Using the medium of 'digital maquettes' allows for a freedom of  abstraction and ambiguity often lost when working digitally in three dimensions. It provides a way of suggesting materiality and spatial intent in a very recognisable, legible form, while avoiding inadvertent communication of yet undecided design detail through the forced technical precision of software.
Fragments of the original house are architecturally animated by a narrative of an accompanying short film to the project. The design was then developed through a series of maquettes building an architecture of armatures to hold these fragments in their narrative positions.
